A music-first approach to filmmaking that aims to hero the power of music in driving storytelling and imagination, breaking the barriers to 'understanding' classical music in any pre-defined way.
What happens when you create film based on music, instead of the other way around? We wanted to use a much-loved medium - film - to give presence to classical music in everyday life, encouraging and allowing individual interpretations in response to music. Based on Australian composer Nicholas Buc's piano trio Trailer Music, Violinist/Creative Director Thomas Lo worked closely with 6 emerging Australian filmmakers to take these individual stories from storyboard to screen in 8 weeks. This was launched in a live event featuring piano trio performance and film screening in Melbourne, Australian - then invited to be presented at TEDxFoggyBottom in Washington DC to an audience of 1200.
