A continuation of our wildly successful film and music collaboration, we continue to explore the critical role that music plays in driving storytelling - our unique take on music, film, and the concert experience.
See music, hear film. Taking a music-first approach to filmmaking, Trailer Music II highlights the power of music in driving storytelling and imagination. Continuing our partnership with Australian composer Nicholas Buc, we commissioned Trailer Music II for Piano, Violin and Cello - a cinematic work providing the canvas for 5 accomplished Australian filmmakers to create 5 individual scenes as visual narrative responses to the music. Violinist/Creative Director Thomas Lo worked in close partnership with the filmmakers to bring cohesion for full musical and visual impact. These scenes come together to form the Trailer Music II Short Film - driven entirely by music, without dialogue or sound effects.
This launched in a two-night world premiere at Melbourne Music Week 2016, and as a standalone program at St Kilda Film Festival 2017 - supported by APRA AMCOS and Steinway & Sons. The pilot collaboration, Trailer Music I, was presented at TEDxFoggyBottom in Washington DC.
